There are two more Premier League matches which form this weekend’s Super Sunday and both matches sees the chase to hunt down Chelsea at the top of the table continue.
After Liverpool won on Saturday to close the gap a little it is the turn of Tottenham and Manchester City to see what impact they can make on the leaders. Sunderland will be desperate for points at the other end too.
Tottenham vs Everton
Two form sides meet at the Lane with both eager for the points for their own individual needs. Much will be made of this being Tottenham’s chance to close the gap on leaders Chelsea but Everton are pushing for European football and need the points in that quest.
Tottenham took Stoke to the cleaners last weekend which saw them bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Liverpool prior to that but they have some injury concerns at the back for this one. Danny Rose is definitely out while Toby Alderweireld faces a fitness test and even Jan Vertonghen isn’t certain to play.
Everton head into this match unbeaten in nine matches since the last gasp defeat in the Merseyside derby just before Christmas. They are scoring goals a lot more regularly now and generally expressing themselves which is good to see.
These are two good sides and I fancy we’ll see them have a go at each other. They drew 1-1 at Goodison Park at the beginning of the season and I think we will get a scoreline which sees both teams scoring here too. Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku are on top form but the support cast is strong too. BTTS is my play.
Sunderland vs Man City
All eyes will be on Man City to see if they can pick up the comfortable win they are expected to get here while Sunderland will be out to make that as tough as they possibly can.
The odds and the handicap lines give off everything we need to know about this one. It should be a massacre and it may well turn into being one but with all the football they’ve played in recent times and they have to come there’s no need for City to be at full tilt here which makes me refrain from betting on the match.
