Premier League – Tuesday 31st January Matches Betting Preview

After the break for the FA Cup last weekend there is a midweek set of matches in the Premier League this week with seven matches on Tuesday and three more on Wednesday.

The Tuesday matches include the huge clash between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield while the other two members of the top four are also in action on what could be a huge night in the title race.

Big Matches

As you would expect the match between Liverpool and Chelsea will have the most attention and it is on the TV. Arsenal host Watford looking to take advantage of any dropped points in the Anfield clash while Tottenham look to have a winnable match at the Stadium of Light when they face Sunderland.

Remaining Matches

The winners of the Premier League and Championship from last season meet at Turf Moor when Burnley host Leicester. Bournemouth host Crystal Palace at the Vitality Stadium while Middlesbrough welcome West Brom to the Riverside. The other match sees Swansea taking on Southampton at the Liberty Stadium.

Betting

On what is an interesting card I’m going to keep myself to two bets. The first of those will surprise absolutely nobody but it amazes me how Burnley are still going into home matches against sides outside the top six as the outsiders let alone a home match against a Leicester side who haven’t won away all season.

I’ve repeatedly mentioned Burnley’s home form. Since the opening day of the season only Arsenal and Man City have been and won at Turf Moor with Burnley dropping just two points in the other nine matches at home. They are a very efficient outfit on their own patch and with Leicester nothing like the side we saw last season anywhere let alone on the road Burnley are a bit of an obvious bet.

I also can’t ignore Chelsea in the main game. I accept that Liverpool have turned up against their title rivals all season but they look half the side without Sadio Mane and even if he is back he can’t possibly be 100% after the emotions of the Africa Cup of Nations and the flight back. Even if he does make a difference the gap between Chelsea and Liverpool right now looks huge.

In the last fortnight we’ve seen Swansea and Southampton counter attack the Liverpool defence at will and Chelsea will do likewise. What is more worrying for Liverpool is that their goal threat looks to be diminishing and that is a concern against a tough as teak Chelsea defence. I think Chelsea can put Liverpool to bed in the title race with a win here.
