The Ram Slam T20 Challenge has really exploded into life in recent days thanks to Kevin Pietersen and the former England batsman will be on our screens on Sunday as his Dolphins side host the Warriors in one of two matches in the tournament.
The other match sees the pre-event favourites Titans taking on the defending champion Cape Cobras in Centurion on what should be another eye catching and appealing day in the South African domestic showpiece.
Looking at the TV game and we’ve got a powerful, undefeated Dolphins batting line up against a tougher Warriors side and while I would expect the Dolphins to win I’m never one for backing sides with indifferent bowling attacks in this format of the game.
Instead I think the best bet in the match is for over 10.5 sixes. We saw when the Dolphins hosted the Lions here on Wednesday that the boundaries at Kingsmead can be quite short and the Dolphins have plenty of batsmen who can take advantage of that. They are loose with the ball though so I fancy the Warriors will contribute nicely so I’m expecting the sixes to flow here.
Away from the TV cameras I’m happy to side with the Titans. They have won one and lost one but their defeat was to the all-conquering Dolphins and even then they perhaps should have won the game.
The Cobras lost to the Lions in their opening game and looked anything but convincing defending 140 in their win over the Warriors so I’m not sure they are firing on all cylinders just yet. I love the Titans bowling attack so far and they can get them over the line here helped with the batting power they have too.
