There is one match in the Royal London One Day Cup on Saturday and it comes from Grace Road where Leicestershire will look to all but secure their place in the knockout stages of the competition when they welcome Nottinghamshire to town.
Nottinghamshire have outside hopes of qualifying for the quarter finals themselves but they know they will disappear if they don’t come out on top in this one. Once again with the Test match and The Hundred on it is the Leicestershire stream that needs to be loaded up to watch.
Leicestershire
The Foxes have been in excellent form in the Royal London One Day Cup so far. How much of that is fuelled by what happened to them towards the end of the Vitality Blast only they will know but they have certainly gone well and go into this match knowing that two wins in their final two games will see them straight through to the semi-final which they will host at the end of the month. That is a huge incentive for them.
One of the reasons behind their success is that they are one of few counties who have two overseas players for the competition, although they have lost one of those to The Hundred ahead of this match which is less than ideal. The other is that they haven’t lost too many to the new competition and have been able to play a largely settled side. They have been very good with the bat and only once have they let a team score more than 265 against them and that was at Radlett which has been a paradise for runs this term.
Nottinghamshire
When you consider that Nottinghamshire have been without almost their entire first-choice white ball side for this competition, they have put together a perfectly acceptable six matches so far but with three of them being losses they know that in order to have any chance of making it through to the knockout stages of the event they have to win their last two. That needs to begin here against their local rivals who they would be eager to beat anyway.
Nottinghamshire started the competition like a house on fire with two wins in their first two matches but they have struggled to maintain the intensity and are now 3-3 for the season. With so many players who aren’t experienced at this level being thrown in and given the chance it isn’t too much of a surprise that the going has got a little tougher in recent times but they have had the chance to take stock and look towards getting the two wins which will probably see them through.

Team News
Leicestershire will be without Beuran Hendricks for this match as he has been called into the Southern Brave squad for the remainder of The Hundred. Tom Scriven has picked up an injury so Will Davis returns.
Nottinghamshire are missing a whole host of players to The Hundred but among the first teamers on show will be Haseeb Hameed, Ben Slater, Liam Patterson-White and Dane Paterson. Zak Chappell is off at the end of the season but remains in the squad.
Betting
Nottinghamshire have won three and lost three in this competition and all three wins have been when Liam Patterson-White has been involved. The only time they have lost with him in the side was at Edgbaston on Wednesday and the rain that was around the ground prior to the match and during it would have negated his impact with the ball. As a result it is the only time in the competition he has gone without a wicket but I expect his impression to be felt a lot more on this match with bat and ball.
Leicestershire have been a revelation in this tournament so far but we’ve reached the business end of it for them now and I’ll be interested to see how they cope with that. Unfortunately for them they have lost two important players in their leading wicket taker and their third highest wicket taker and that isn’t ideal at all. Nottinghamshire aren’t at full strength but one of the reasons for the success of the Foxes had been their overseas duo so being without one of them is less than ideal. I believe Liam Patterson-White is a game changer who will play for England soon and he can lead his side to a big win for the visitors here.
