Another weekend of action begins in the Sky Bet Championship on Friday night and it starts with a couple of matches where the four sides involved are probably glad to be playing early in what is a three game week yet again.
One of the two matches are live on the TV for us to enjoy on Friday evening and I’m sure the TV coverage will have plenty of updates on the other game so there is no need for us to miss any of the key action on the night.
Coventry City vs Peterborough United (19.45)
The first match of the two to kick off on Friday evening comes from the Ricoh Arena as Coventry City host the Championship new boys of Peterborough United if they can still be called new as we approach the 10 game mark of the season.
Coventry have defied expectations for a while under Mark Robins and sitting fourth heading into the weekend I think it is fair to say that is continuing this term. This was always going to be a tough first season at this level for Peterborough and so far they have been found out a little. They did have a great win over Birmingham City last weekend though but have been hit hard by the ridiculous suspension of Jonson Clarke-Harris and you would think that would eliminate a lot of their goal threat. That makes me expect Coventry to win this match but I hate backing overachieving sides at odds on so I can leave this one alone.

West Bromwich Albion vs QPR (20.00 – Sky Football)
The televised action comes from The Hawthorns where West Bromwich Albion put their unbeaten start on the line against a QPR side who should be buzzing from their victory over Everton in the Carabao Cup in midweek.
This match sees Charlie Austin returning to The Hawthorns with something of a point to prove perhaps so that will give QPR the incentive to end what has been a poor recent run of a couple of defeats in a row heading into this one. This feels like it is a big match for West Brom too. They have drawn their last three matches and all of a sudden there are a few murmurings of discontent with the style that Valerien Ismael adopts. Nothing will be said of that style when they are winning but it will be brought up when they go on losing runs so the Baggies could do with a win here just to silence that talk.
I’m expecting goals in this match. QPR games have been full of goals this season with 28 of them coming in the eight matches they have played while West Brom have seen 21 goals in their eight games so both these sides are no stranger to high scoring matches. West Brom are missing a couple of defenders which is likely to keep QPR interested but West Brom will threaten with that long throw of theirs. I think the end result is we see more than 2.75 goals in this one.
