Big Matches

The televised action opens up the show on Saturday when the champions elect Fulham welcome a Huddersfield Town side, who are chasing a play-off spot, to Craven Cottage in what might now be a bigger match for the visitors than the hosts. With Bournemouth having had their match cancelled on Friday night, Blackburn Rovers can move within a point of them in the race for automatic promotion when they host Millwall. At the other end of the table two teams in the bottom three meet when Derby County host Peterborough United in a match neither dare lose if they want to avoid piling the pressure on themselves.

Best of the Rest

QPR are having a good season in fourth place and they could also give their automatic promotion chances a boost then they host Hull City on Saturday afternoon. The race for the play-offs is crazy right now and heading the way are Middlesbrough, who will be looking to stay in pole position when they head to Bristol City. Two sides in that charge meet at Kenilworth Road where Luton Town host West Bromwich Albion while Sheffield United will look to continue their charge when they welcome Swansea City to Bramall Lane. Reading will know they can’t afford to keep losing when they head to Deepdale to take on Preston North End, who are another test chasing a play-off place.

Betting

One bet jumps off the page at me on Saturday and that comes from Pride Park where Derby County can do their chances of what would be a quite amazing escape from relegation when they host a Peterborough United side who are beginning to look a little out of their depth and could be ruing not finding the winning goal in a crunch clash with Reading on Wednesday evening. They might be quite deflated from that because they had a great chance to escape the bottom three but weren’t good enough to take it.

Derby should be gone already with a 21 point deduction but incredibly a win here would take them above their opponents and potentially within two points of safety. Derby have won four of their last five matches at Pride Park and have only been beaten there twice all season whereas Peterborough have just one win on their travels all campaign and have now gone four matches without a goal and put a serious shift in on Wednesday night in pretty tough conditions which might catch up with them here. Derby will be roared on by a huge crowd and I think they pick up a massive three points here.
