Big Matches
The action begins with the TV game which will be the one I’m going to as my beloved Luton Town look to move to the verge of securing a play-off spot when they play host to a Blackpool side who have caused grief at Kenilworth Road in the past and will be wanting to do so again on Saturday afternoon. Elsewhere there is a huge clash at the Vitality Stadium as the top two meet when AFC Bournemouth play host to Fulham in a match the home side will want to win having seen Huddersfield Town move to within one point of them in the race for automatic promotion. The other huge game comes from London Road where only a win for Peterborough United over Nottingham Forest will keep their survival chances alive. Anything but victory sees Posh relegated while Forest will want the points to fend off the chasing pack in the race for the top six.
Best of the Rest
That pack is currently chasing Sheffield United who begin the afternoon in sixth spot in the table. They will hope to maintain that position when they host Cardiff City while Millwall are leading the chasing pack and go to Birmingham City. Middlesbrough, QPR and Coventry are the other three sides in action who can hold genuine top six claims. Boro head to Swansea City while QPR travel to Stoke City and Coventry City make the short trip to West Bromwich Albion. The other match of note sees Reading going to Hull City knowing that if they win they secure Championship football next season regardless of what Peterborough do.
Betting
That Peterborough United vs Nottingham Forest match is one of those where a goal will change the dynamic and could open the game up to be something very end to end. If Peterborough score it then Nottingham Forest will need to double down on their attacking efforts else they would be clinging onto their top six spot. Should Forest open the scoring then Peterborough will need to offer up a more cavalier approach as they will need a minimum of two goals to stay in the division.
That makes me think that we’ll get more than 2.5 goals in this one. We saw on Monday night that Forest can take any team in the competition to the cleaners when they are on it but there are goals in this Peterborough side. Unfortunately for them there aren’t nearly as many in the right net as there are go in their own one. I expected over 2.5 goals to be pretty short here but that isn’t the case so that is the bet for me.
