Sky Bet Championship 2021-22 – Tuesday 15th March Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

A key midweek of Sky Bet Championship action gets going on Tuesday evening when five of the matches take place on what could be a big night at the top and the bottom end of the second tier table.

The good thing about these five matches is that one of them is live on the TV on the main channel and all the other four will be able to be viewed via the red button service, so if you have a bet there is no need to miss any of the action.

Tuesday’s fixtures are as follows: (7.45pm unless stated – UK TV in brackets)

Barnsley v Bristol City

Birmingham City v Middlesbrough

Blackburn Rovers v Derby County

AFC Bournemouth v Reading

West Bromwich Albion v Fulham (8pm – Sky Main Event & Sky Football)

Preview

The televised action, not for the first time this season, comes from The Hawthorns, although this time it is probably justified as West Bromwich Albion play host to the leaders Fulham, who could end the evening 17 points above this place and needing a maximum of 11 more to secure an immediate return to the Premier League. West Brom are downing their last pint at the last chance saloon as far as their play-off hopes are concerned. AFC Bournemouth will look to strengthen their automatic promotion chances when they host a Reading side who will be having to look over their shoulders if they don’t pick up some more points soon.

There is plenty to play for in the other three matches too. Derby County will be hoping to move within two points of safety when they head north to take on a Blackburn Rovers side for whom the wheels look like they are wobbling if not fallen off. Rovers are still in the top six but really need a first win in four here. Barnsley are a point better off than Derby at the bottom of the table and they have a good chance of three points when they host Bristol City. The other match sees Birmingham City hosting a Middlesbrough side who are pushing hard for a top six spot ahead of their marquee cup quarter final at the weekend.

Betting

Barnsley are giving survival a right good go and they can boost their chances when they welcome Bristol City to Oakwell on Tuesday evening. The Tykes were only a few minutes from knocking off the runaway league leaders Fulham at the weekend and they seem to have found the formula at home at the minute. They are now four unbeaten on their own patch and even the two matches prior to that which were 1-0 defeats against AFC Bournemouth and Cardiff City were much improved performances.

Bristol City started the season in great touch on their travels, winning four of their first six away matches while struggling like crazy to pick up a home win but they now have just one win in their last 12 away from Ashton Gate, which came at Blackburn at the weekend but they look to be faltering quite badly at the minute. Successive away games covering long distances is never an easy thing to do and with them not really playing for anything I think Bristol City are vulnerable here. I’ll take the hosts albeit with a bit of draw cover.
