Preview

The televised encounter comes from the Riverside Stadium where an under pressure Middlesbrough host a Sheffield United side who look to have worked it out after a slow start to the season. The highest ranked team on show are West Bromwich Albion. They have the chance to go top of the table for 24 hours at least but they need to go to the Cardiff City Stadium and beat Cardiff City who will be reeling from being thrashed by Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Blackburn are also in action on Tuesday evening. They head across the Pennines to take on a Huddersfield Town side who are teetering on the edge of floundering. Stoke City will be looking to continue their positive start to the season when they head up to Deepdale to take on Preston North End while the other two matches see two promoted sides meeting when Hull City take on Blackpool while QPR welcome Birmingham City to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

Betting

A couple of bets standout to me among these matches with one of them coming in the TV game where Sheffield United really need to be backed. Middlesbrough are in a bit of a slump at the minute having lost three of their last four matches and even the win in that time was only against Nottingham Forest who aren’t the best form guide. When things start going pear-shaped for a Neil Warnock side the writing can often be on the wall quickly because nobody enjoys his style of play least of all the fans of the team he is managing. That means there is a little pressure on the Middlesbrough players here. Sheffield United have won three of their last four matches since they reinforced ahead of the summer deadline day and have obviously used the international break to take stock and have a rethink. They look a lot better for it, are the better side of the two here and can come out on top in this one.

The other bet I like is on a rampant looking Blackburn Rovers to take care of Huddersfield Town. Blackburn have only lost once this season which came in the loss to West Brom who could be going top of the table over the course of the evening. Huddersfield Town are not West Brom and are starting to lose their form after a decent start. They have lost three of their last four matches with a very worrying looking loss to Nottingham Forest among those defeats. They never managed a shot on target against Swansea at the weekend either so the Huddersfield struggles look real. Blackburn have no such issues. They are flying at both ends of the pitch right now and having scored five the last time these two teams met the away side will fancy leaving Yorkshire with all three points.
