Big Matches

The televised action is all about the race for the top six with four sides involved in that battle all in action. Millwall are certainly attempting to launch a charge for the play-offs but might need to win against a Huddersfield Town side who still have their sights on the top two rather than having to go through the end of season lottery. It is very much a place in the top six on the minds of both sides at the City Ground when Nottingham Forest warm up for their FA Cup quarter final by hosting QPR who revived their form with a fortunate win at Luton on Sunday.

Best of the Rest

Sheffield United dropped out of the top six with results on Tuesday evening and they’ll be looking to get back into that zone when they head to Bloomfield Road to take on a Blackpool side who have won their last three matches. Luton Town are another side who will be eyeing up getting back into the top six in the table. They host Preston North End while at the other end of the table Peterborough United have seen Barnsley and Reading pick up points this week already and will need to follow suit when they play host to Swansea City. Coventry City revived their top six hopes with a good win over Sheffield United on Saturday and they will be looking to back that up when they host Hull City. Two direct sides meet in Wales when Cardiff City host Stoke City.

Betting

Blackpool have played six home matches in 2022 and they have won five of them. The only team to leave Bloomfield Road with the points were Bournemouth who look comfortably the second best side in the league even if they are struggling to impose their dominance enough to show that in their results. They now host a Sheffield United side who have suddenly lost a bit of their mojo on their travels as injuries begin to mount up.

Some of those injuries are really beginning to impact the Blades in defensive areas as Coventry highlighted at the weekend when they put four past them. Paul Heckingbottom is having to utilise players out of position in his back line or bring inexperienced defenders which is never a good thing. The other thing those injuries mean is that his options for rotation aren’t as strong as previously. Blackpool have a few injuries restricting their options but they were at home on Saturday and are at home again here. They are tough to beat on their own patch and I think there is value in them to pick up a result here. The Asian lines are such that even a draw nets us a half win on the Tangerines and that looks great value to me.
