Big Matches
The TV cameras head down to Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon where Blackpool look to give their survival chances a boost when they make the long journey to face a Bristol City side who are suddenly going nowhere this season after a promising run has come to an end over the last week or so. At the top of the table, Burnley will look to continue their stroll towards automatic promotion and the title when they host a Wigan Athletic side who need points to give their survival chances a boost. Second placed Sheffield United welcome fifth placed Luton Town to Bramall Lane in what is the pick of the fixtures on the day.
Best of the Rest
Middlesbrough sit in third and will be hoping that Sheffield United can slip up and if they do they will be out to take advantage when they make the ridiculously long trip to Wales to take on Swansea City. No other team in the top six are in action on Saturday so Millwall have the chance to move back into the play-offs if they can win away to Reading. Coventry City are on the fringes of the top six and they can boost their hopes if they can win at home to Hull City. Watford begin life without Slaven Bilic on the road at QPR while at the other end of the table Huddersfield Town head to The Hawthorns looking to give their hopes of beating the drop a boost.
Betting
I’ve been keen to have Middlesbrough onside recently and having seen Swansea City with my own eyes last week I’m happy to take them in their trip to Wales. Middlesbrough are in fine form and just spanked Reading 5-0. That probably isn’t the result it looks given the away woes of the Royals but whenever you beat anyone by that margin it is likely to give you a real shot in the arm whereas Swansea go into the encounter off the back of a tame loss at Luton.
Middlesbrough have been playing well under Michael Carrick for a while. They are happy with the ball and they are just as happy without it which is probably important with the possession that Swansea like to have. Whoever has more of the ball here, the difference in the contest might well be the enhanced better end product that Middlesbrough come with. The goal threat of Chuba Akpom and the services of the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Cameron Archer should be enough for Boro to come away from this one with victory.
