It is a big weekend for a number of teams in the Sky Bet Championship and it all gets underway on Saturday afternoon when 10 of the 12 fixtures in this round of games take place with sides looking to improve their league position.
Often we have a Saturday game on the TV to get stuck into but the TV treatment comes along on Sunday so we are relying on the many other ways of staying up to date with all the action in these games.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated)
Blackpool v Preston North End (12.30pm)
Blackburn Rovers v Birmingham City
Middlesbrough v Huddersfield Town
Millwall v West Bromwich Albion
Queens Park Rangers v Wigan Athletic
Reading v Bristol City
Rotherham United v Hull City
Sheffield United v Norwich City
Stoke City v Coventry City
Sunderland v Burnley

Big Matches
Queens Park Rangers head into the weekend on top of the table and they have a home clash with which to attempt to stay there with. They play host to Wigan Athletic. Should the Londoners slip up then Blackburn Rovers could return to the summit. They also have a home clash on Saturday as they host in form Birmingham City at Ewood Park. Two other sides can finish the day on top of the pile should results go their way. They are Burnley, who travel to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland, and Sheffield United, who welcome troubled Norwich City to Bramall Lane.
Best of the Rest
Millwall had a good win over Watford in midweek and they will be looking to move into the top six when they host West Bromwich Albion, who will be looking for a result which moves them out of the bottom three. Huddersfield Town begin the day bottom of the table and they will be looking to come away from that position when they head to Middlesbrough, who themselves will be looking for points to come away from the danger zone. Coventry City are the other team in the bottom three and they head to an inconsistent Stoke City side. Blackpool are one place above the drop zone and they’ll look to pull away from there in the early kick off when they host local rivals Preston North End while Hull City look to come away from the bottom three when they head to Rotherham United.
Betting
Rotherham United have made a positive start to life back in the Sky Bet Championship and I fancy that they can get the better of a Hull City side who I’m still far from convinced about this season. Hull got off the mark on the road in midweek but they got Blackpool at the right time with all of their defensive issues and I think they’ll need a bit more to get the better of a Rotherham side who have won their last two matches.
Hull’s win at Blackpool was on Wednesday night whereas Rotherham played on Tuesday night so that is a bit of an advantage for the home side coming into this one. Only one team have left the New York Stadium this season with all three points and that was a Wigan side who have been decent on their travels. Hull have picked up one win away from the MKM Stadium and are struggling for goals on their travel. Three of their seven away goals came on Wednesday night but I’ve already mentioned I’m not convinced by that result. I’ll take the home side to restore the order of the trends here.
