Big Matches

We are at The Hawthorns for the TV match on Saturday afternoon when the leaders Leicester City face a tricky encounter away to a West Bromwich Albion side who are in the top six at the beginning of the day and who are generally good in front of their own fans. Second placed Ipswich closed the gap on Leicester City to a point in midweek and they will host Coventry City hoping to have the chance to move top of the table with a win. Leeds United are in third place at present and they host Michael Carrick and his Middlesbrough side who fancy their chances against anyone in this league.

Best of the Rest

Southampton are also looking to chase down the top two in the division and they will look to build on their narrow midweek win over Bristol City when they play host to Cardiff City. At the other end of the table, we have already seen QPR win on Friday night so Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United will be eager to pick up points. Wednesday play host to a much improved Blackburn Rovers side while Rotherham United head down to St Andrews to take on Wayne Rooney and his Birmingham City side. Huddersfield Town are now looking over their shoulders and they make the lengthy trip to South Wales to face off against Swansea City.

Betting

Goals at Portman Road cashed for us on Wednesday night and I’m happy to stick with that again on Saturday because there are signs that Coventry City are clicking into a groove which we saw them do around the same time last season. Ipswich Town looked very good against Millwall in midweek and you could tell that they are very comfortable playing on home soil. One slight concern is that if Leicester slip up earlier in the day Ipswich will be able to go top which brings a bit of pressure about.

The positive for Ipswich is that they were 3-0 up at half time in midweek so Kieran McKenna was able to get some key players off for the majority of the second half and save them for this. He had good options on the bench anyway should he want to rotate for this one. Coventry also have a deep squad and had options off the bench in midweek should they want to rotate here. I mentioned in midweek that Ipswich home games are high scoring and we got four more on Wednesday night while Coventry away games are averaging three goals this term. I like over 2.75 goals in this one.
