Preview

It is a huge night in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League with the top three all in action. The TV cameras will make their way down to Portman Road to see whether Ipswich Town can maintain second spot when they play host to a Bristol City side who can be awkward on their day. Leicester City still lead the way in the second tier and they make the trip to Sunderland on Tuesday evening, while Leeds United will be looking to push their way closer to the top two should they slip up when they play host to Stoke City, who need results themselves are dropping into the bottom three.

The battle to avoid the drop is quite a compelling one as well and there are two matches with teams involved in it facing off against each other. One of those is also on a main channel when Sheffield Wednesday welcome Plymouth Argyle to Hillsborough while in the other game Blackburn Rovers go in search of a result they desperately need when they host Millwall. The other two matches see Coventry City taking on rock bottom Rotherham United while Hull City look to maintain their charge for the top six when lowly Birmingham City are the visitors to the MKM Stadium.

Betting

This isn’t a card I want to get too involved in. There are a couple of favourites who I do like the look of but their handicap line is just a little too big for comfort in a midweek round where changes are likely to be made. There is one bet that I like though and that comes in the main game where I just see goals every time Ipswich Town take to the pitch. Usually it is them scoring them but we saw in a recent midweek outing against Rotherham United that they can concede them too.

You can get a decent enough price on over 2.5 goals when they entertain Bristol City on Tuesday evening and that looks fair enough to me. As I say there are definitely goals in this Ipswich side, potentially even more now that they have the genuine aerial threat of Kieffer Moore at their disposal, but Bristol City play the right way and I wouldn’t be surprised were they to find the net over the course of the evening. Ipswich have covered this line themselves in their last two home games but the last three Bristol City matches have gone over too. I expect the trend to continue in this one.
