Preview

The TV cameras make the short trip to Shepherd’s Bush for the clash between Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday evening. QPR have seen a number of their relegation rivals slip up on Tuesday so they can take a great leap towards survival with a win here. West Brom can consolidate their spot in the top six with a win themselves. We’ve seen the top three win already on Tuesday evening and Southampton will be looking to follow suit when they play host to an in form Preston North End side.

Three other matches take place over the course of the evening with Norwich City looking to continue their good recent form. They face an awkward trip to the Riverside to take on Middlesbrough. Watford are one of many teams in this league who are currently out of form and they play host to a Swansea City team who go in search of a third straight win. The other match sees Cardiff City welcoming Huddersfield Town to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Betting

I’m rarely one to get involved in a Watford match but there is no ignoring the fact that they have only won one of their last eight matches and that was against a Rotherham United side who continue to look a little out of their depth at this level. Even that was only a 1-0 win. Worse still for the Hornets, they haven’t won a league game at Vicarage Road since November, picking up just two points in seven matches at home since then.

They host Swansea City on Wednesday evening and there are signs that the Swans are beginning to turn the corner under Luke Williams. They have won three of their last five matches, with the defeats in that time coming to Ipswich and Leeds United who are flying. Two of those wins were at Hull City and at Sunderland which were decent results and you get the feeling that of the two, Swansea are in a much better place right now than Watford. Valerien Ismael appears a dead man walking and waiting to be put out of his misery and I think Swansea are good value on the +0.25 Asian handicap to send him a touch closer to his downfall. Swansea’s only two defeats in their last eight away games have been at Leicester and Southampton. Watford aren’t either of those so I fancy Swansea to come away with a result here.
