As another weekend approaches so does another full fixture list in Skybet League 2 with all 24 clubs in action over three days of football in England’s lowest league division.
With the break for the FA Cup coming up next week all sides will be looking for a morale boosting win to take into the layoff which might add some competitive spice to the matches.
We have fixtures on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and they are as follows:
FRI 30 OCT 2015
Cambridge v Bristol Rovers 19:45
SAT 31 OCT 2015
Crawley v York 12:30
Wimbledon v Hartlepool 14:00
Barnet v Exeter 15:00
Carlisle v Yeovil 15:00
Leyton Orient v Accrington 15:00
Mansfield v Wycombe 15:00
Newport v Northampton 15:00
Notts County v Portsmouth 15:00
Plymouth v Morecambe 15:00
Stevenage v Oxford Utd 15:00
SUN 1 NOV 2015
Dag & Red v Luton 14:00
The table has really started to take shape now but behind Plymouth who have a bit of a lead at the top there is quite a bunched look to it with only nine points separating the next 15 sides so a win here could have significant implications for whoever can get it.
To be fair at first glance the top three all look to have tricky matches. Plymouth host Morecambe in a match they should win but Morecambe often outperform themselves against the better sides and the leaders look set to remain without Rueben Reid which isn’t ideal.
Portsmouth have been much better on the road this season but they face a tricky match away to Notts County who continue to flatter to deceive at this level. On their day County are a match for anyone so I’m not rushing to take anyone here.
Oxford are another side with a tricky little match away at improving Stevenage. I would still probably have taken Oxford as from what I’ve seen of this league so far they are by far the standout side in it but I’m no odds on backer away from home so that becomes an automatic swerve.
Crawley were a side I was going to take this week but then York have gone and sacked their manager. They are sure to improve now he’s gone so that is another match which becomes a no bet fixture so I’m left with two bets for this round of matches.
Yeovil head to Carlisle with an injury ravaged squad and the unfortunate news that loan defender Stephen Arthurworrey has gone back to his parent club because of an injury. Paul Sturrock’s struggling side could have done without that as they look to find some form to take into the break with them.
Carlisle have kept their momentum going nicely and a win here could move them into the playoff places. They are set to remain without Jabo Ibehre although they haven’t really missed him during his injury layoff. Keith Curle’s men are usually pretty strong at home this season and this looks like an excellent chance for them to put last week’s late leveller against them behind them.
Despite last week’s last gasp equaliser Wycombe are now winless in five matches and they head to one of the form horses in the division on Saturday when they take on Mansfield at the One Call Stadium.
Mansfield have only suffered one defeat in their last six matches. I’m going to forgive them that because it came immediately after their manager got carried away and declared his side strong promotion candidates.
Time will tell if they really are or not but one thing is for sure they are in better touch than Wycombe right now and I will side with them to get it done back on their own turf.
