It is another hectic week in League Two with matches on Saturday and Tuesday as we enter the final quarter of the campaign with a bang. The next week or two is going to sort the contenders from the also-rans and will also sort out just who isn’t good enough for the Football League any longer.
Saturday fixtures are as follows:
Barnet v Crawley Town
Carlisle United v Cambridge United
Colchester United v Portsmouth
Crewe Alexandra v Newport County
Doncaster Rovers v Cheltenham Town
Exeter City v Accrington Stanley
Leyton Orient v Grimsby Town
Luton Town v Stevenage
Mansfield Town v Plymouth Argyle
Morecambe v Yeovil Town
Notts County v Hartlepool United
Wycombe Wanderers v Blackpool
Big Matches
Fifth meet sixth in the big game of the day when Luton host Stevenage in a match between two sides who are eyeing up third spot from here on in. Leaders Doncaster will look to take another step towards promotion when they host Cheltenham while Plymouth in second might be glad to get away from the greenery of Home Park when they head to Mansfield. Portsmouth moved into third in midweek and they head to Colchester.
Best of the Rest
Exeter are pressing hard for the playoffs and in order to keep their chances up they need to take care of improving Accrington while at the other end of the table defeat for Newport County at Crewe could speed up the end for them. Leyton Orient will be desperate to build on last week’s win when they host Grimsby.
Betting
I like two this week. While I was pleased with what I saw I couldn’t believe how low in confidence Yeovil were last week. As soon as the first goal went in there was never a doubt Luton were going to beat them and I’m far from convinced Yeovil are going to fare any better at Morecambe.
Yeovil only have one win in their last 16 matches and have only scored nine goals in that time, two of which came in the win, so they don’t need to search very hard for their problems. They now face a Morecambe side who lost for just the second time in 12 matches last week but Blackpool have followed that win up in style and franked the form if you like. Morecambe are in decent form at the minute and they can feast on a battered and bruised Yeovil.
Blackpool’s follow up win was emphatic at Plymouth on Tuesday night and I think they can win on the road again against a Wycombe side who finally stopped a rot against Grimsby last week but I’m not convinced they have turned the corner on just that effort.
Blackpool have lost just one of their last 12 matches and have scored two or more in six of their last seven so they are ticking along nicely at the minute. At the very worst I think they can avoid defeat but there is more than enough to suggest that Blackpool can win the game.
