Skybet League 2 – Tuesday 21st March Matches Betting Preview

There are two matches in Skybet League 2 on Tuesday evening with one of them affecting the promotion and relegation scene with the other between two sides playing for relatively little as the campaign heads towards a close.

Newport vs Luton

The match with everything on the line comes from Rodney Parade where a Newport County side looking to attach themselves to the rest at the bottom of the table host a Luton side who are desperate for three points to draw closer to the automatic promotion spots.

Newport have only won one of their last 10 matches at home while Luton tend to be good on the road with no away defeats since they went to Portsmouth in the first game of 2017 and even that match was marred by the injury to Cameron McGeehan.

The fly in the ointment here could well be the Newport pitch which is a right state and that is almost certain to negate Luton’s passing football. That said Newport have shipped seven here in their last two matches. Another cause for concern is Luton continually get into a position to close the gap on third place and regularly balls it up so those two issues combined lead me to leave this well alone.

Morecambe vs Accrington

Although there is nothing riding on the game in terms of promotion or relegation this is the match I’m most interested in from a betting point of view even though it is a derby of sorts.

Morecambe looked to be in real trouble a couple of months ago when off field issues were threatening to derail them but then they went on a decent run which has curtailed in the last couple of weeks. Morecambe have now lost their last four matches and the signs are they are already on the beach.

Accrington are the exact opposite. They are in the middle of a decent run which has seen them pull away from danger. They have only lost one of their last 11 matches now which was away at Portsmouth which was no disgrace.

Morecambe won their opening two home games this season but have taken just 13pts from 48 at the Globe since then. Accrington are four unbeaten on the road and I fancy they’ll pick up another three points in this one.

Tips

WON – Back Accrington (-0.25AH) to beat Morecambe for a 4/10 stake at 1.85 with 188bet
