After the early postponement of the Accrington vs Portsmouth game we are left with 10 matches in League Two on Saturday and there is some good betting potential in some of them.
The revised fixtures are as follows:
Wimbledon v Mansfield
Barnet v Carlisle
Crawley v Notts County
Dag & Red v Northampton
Hartlepool v Wycombe
Leyton Orient v Exeter
Luton v Cambridge
Morecambe v Yeovil
Plymouth v Stevenage
York v Newport
As always in a League Two fixture list there are some tight looking matches and some easier games to read so it is all about picking and choosing the best bets and that is what I will aim to do here.
The tight looking matches are Wimbledon vs Mansfield, Crawley vs Notts County, Morecambe vs Yeovil, Luton vs Cambridge and York vs Newport. The latter two aren’t helped by new managers but no result would surprise me if those matches.
Plymouth are heavily favoured against Stevenage but I’m still not convinced by the leaders at home especially when they need to cover decent handicaps and Teddy Sheringham’s side have added more firepower to their ranks which makes them dangerous to take on.
Northampton are another side who are odds on. They’ve already won at one John Still managed side this season and will be eyeing up a unique double here. I think they will win but they are no price so I will sit that one out unless the drift to evens throughout the day.
There are two bets I’m getting involved in though. Barnet and Carlisle are both free scoring and both have leaky defences so the potential for there to be more than 2.5 goals in their match has to be quite high.
Four of Barnet’s last six matches have contained more than 2.5 goals and one of those that didn’t had two exactly while four of Carlisle’s last six have had three or more as well and the others have had two as well so goals are a regular theme when these two sides are on the football pitch.
I’ve seen Carlisle on the road this season and there is no killing the game or parking the bus tactics from them so those going to The Hive should get an entertaining match and one which contains at least three goals.
I’m also going to go with Leyton Orient here. I don’t particularly rate them as I’ve mentioned all season but Exeter are in awful form and it will be natural for their players to have an eye on what is to come in midweek with their trip to Anfield.
Paul Tisdale has mentioned how he will have to keep changing his side to keep everyone fit in this busy period but that isn’t helping with their form and I do worry for them at an Orient side who aren’t that bad on their own patch.
Orient have only lost once at Brisbane Road since the end of September and so with an out of form Exeter coming to town I like the O’s for once today.
