The Greatest Show on Turf has arrived. On Sunday evening the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams meet in Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta for the right to be crowned the champions of the NFL for the season.
As ever we have the two Conference champions colliding on one of the biggest stages in sport for what should be an amazing encounter where history will be made amidst a backdrop of drama, excitement and tension.
Los Angeles Rams
It has been a slightly rocky road for the Los Angeles Rams but amid controversial calls in the NFC Championship game they have made it to the big dance and will be looking to usurp Philadelphia Eagles as an NFC side to knock off the Patriots. The Rams have been strong right throughout the season and have maintained that intensity during the play-offs and should be primed to make an amazing account of themselves.
Much is made of the Rams’ offense, and quite rightly so. They have a running game admired by many and Jared Goff has shown the required poise to get the job done in the air, but what sometimes goes under the radar is their defence, especially the defensive line, which will be targeting one man throughout the whole of this contest.
New England Patriots
The ongoing dynasty that the New England Patriots are in the middle of is quite amazing for a sport where dominance is not meant to happen. This is their third successive Super Bowl. They have won one and lost one of the previous two, with their win coming in extraordinary circumstances with that remarkable comeback against the Atlanta Falcons.
What makes this run all the more remarkable is that Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski aside, the Patriots don’t have many elite players but what they have are a number of streetwise men who know their roles and play them to perfection. They also have the ability to nullify the threat of the opponent and take advantage of it when they have the ball in hand themselves.

Betting
We are set up for a fascinating Super Bowl here. I personally believe the Los Angeles Rams are an awful match up for the New England Patriots. They can control the clock with their running game, complete quick drives in the air should they need to and they can get Brady under pressure with their elite defensive players.
In saying that, you can never truly count the Patriots out but they had no answer to a Philadelphia Eagles side who probably didn’t match up as badly to them in the Super Bowl last year and they should have been battered by Atlanta the year before. If the likes of Sean McVay and Jared Goff control their emotions under the pressure of the big game I believe the Rams will come out on top here.
