Sky Sports are continuing to use their website and iPad app to stream live Super League matches and the big match between Hull FC and Huddersfield on Friday night is the latest to be shown on those platforms.
This looked like it was just going to be a regular end of season game with Hull FC going nowhere now and Huddersfield already assured of a playoff place but Leeds’ defeat on Thursday night has kept Huddersfield interested in the chase for the leaders’ shield.
Hull FC put up a decent account of themselves last week despite being without a number of first teamers. Wigan only saw them off once and for all in the last minute so that was a moral victory for the Black and Whites if nothing else.
Huddersfield’s really strong form continued as they absolutely routed Warrington last week and their coach Paul Anderson will be hoping his side can keep it going for four more weeks.
The good news for Lee Radford and everyone connected with the Airlie Birds is that they have a number of players back this week. Leon Pryce, Kirk Yeaman, Josh Bowden and Jordan Thompson are all back but there is no place in the squad for Warrington bound Tom Lineham.
Huddersfield make just one change from the side that battered Warrington last week as they chase a fifth win in a row. Eorl Crabtree makes way for Nathan Mason to come into the squad.
Initially I liked Huddersfield to cover 10 here and I wouldn’t be surprised if they still do but with Hull having players back and with Huddersfield just wanting the win now rather than taking a side to the cleaners I’m not so keen to back it.
I’m certainly not rushing to back Hull even with a 10pt start given that they have nothing to play for so the best play for me here might well be not to play it at all.
In the qualifying match on Friday night Hull KR head to Sheffield. Rovers are already guaranteed a Super League spot next season and while they are going really well at the minute now isn’t the time in the season to take a side with nothing much to play for to cover a huge handicap so I’ll avoid playing that game too.
