Another big round of Super League matches begin with one of the biggest matches on the calendar as the two Hull sides come together to meet at the KC Stadium. Hull FC have seen their lead disappear after back to back defeats and need to rebuild while Hull KR have got to win to keep their feint hopes of making it into the Super 8s alive.
Hull FC
Hull FC now go into the match two points behind Wigan in the league table and it will take a big win here if they are to go back above them but more importantly they could do with a win to restore their confidence and their momentum having lost their last two matches.
In many ways they didn’t do a lot wrong in their defeat to Leeds last week so they shouldn’t be too disappointed with that match. The Huddersfield game the week before wasn’t good but if they keep playing like they did last week then they won’t be too far away in matches.
Hull KR
Hull KR go into this match off the back of two excellent come from behind results against Warrington and Huddersfield in the last fortnight. To draw with Warrington when a man light was one thing but to come out firing and win from the position they were in against Huddersfield last week was almost even more impressive.
Hull KR’s lack of consistency earlier in the season has cost them dearly in the race for the Super 8s and it isn’t really realistic for them to make that any longer but a good couple of weeks from here will see them in good form going into the Middle 8s where they hope to preserve their Super League status.
Team News
Gareth Ellis is back for the Black and Whites for this match but they remain without Frank Pritchard which isn’t ideal. Jamie Shaul is in the squad having flirted with injury recently but Carlos Tuimavave is out again.
Hull KR bring Kieran Dixon and James Greenwood back after they missed last week’s win. The French pair of John Boudebza and Kevin Larroyer both miss out here while Terry Campese and Josh Mantellato both remain out too.
Betting
Hull FC have won both meetings between these two this season. They came from the clouds to beat Hull KR over Easter and then dominated them at the Magic Weekend and I’m expecting them to dominate them again here.
I don’t see Rovers being defensively strong enough for the 80 minutes to keep this powerful Hull FC side out of their in goal and at the same time I’m not sure Hull KR will be able to put enough pressure on Hull FC’s defence to get much joy.
Back to back defeats are likely to have stroked the fire nicely for Hull FC and I’m taking them to win here and win by at least 10 and maybe even a few more than that if they really get on a roll in the second half.
