Super League – Saturday 28th May Matches Betting Preview

Two more matches in the Super League take place on Saturday as the season continues to bowl along at a rampant pace. Catalans Dragons take on Hull KR in the later game which is the televised game while Hull FC face St Helens in a match that can be seen on the Sky Sports website.

Hull FC vs St Helens

The league leaders Hull FC look to protect their advantage in the table when they host St Helens at the KC Stadium. Hull go into the match off the back of a solid derby win at the Magic Weekend while St Helens will be reeling from the shellacking they took at the same event.

Hull FC are unchanged for this match as you would expect and they look a very dangerous side right now. They are powerful up the middle and have some dynamic and quality backs to create plenty of mayhem in the opposition defence.

St Helens have made a couple of changes to their squad but if they are to get anything from this they are going to have to muscle up in defence and really be counted in that area. The big open pitch at Newcastle last week certainly did nothing for their defensive cause.

I give the edge to Hull here but they are being asked to cover a converted try which looks about right to me. I’m in no rush to back St Helens after last week and this has the feel that it might be a one score game so I’ll sit this one out.

Catalans Dragons vs Hull KR

The Dragons will be annoyed at losing to Wakefield at the Magic Weekend last week but they look to have the ideal chance to get back on the wagon and pick up a nice win here. Hull KR will be on a low after losing the derby last week and there are signs that they have given this match away before they have even started.

I say that because they are flying in and out of France on the same day as the game which can’t be ideal and they have left a lot of big players at home not least their captain Terry Campese as well as Ben Cockayne among others and that doesn’t give off the impression that they think they have a chance here. It appears they are saving themselves for bigger matches to come.

Catalans in contrast might have a few injuries but they still look pretty strong and they will expect to come through here and they might even put a real dent into the points difference advantage that Warrington around them have should it come down to that later in the season.

On the face of it a 16pt handicap looks a lot to cover but Hull KR would have put plenty into the derby so even in normal circumstances the Catalans Dragons would have had every chance of covering it but throw in the Hull KR absences and the fact the Dragons have already walloped Hull KR this season and the likelihood of a huge Catalans win becomes quite high.
