There are three more matches in the Super League Super 8s on Friday night as the race for the top four intensifies with some big clashes. One of the three matches is on the TV while the other two are away from the cameras.
After these matches there will be just five weeks of the season left and Wakefield’s win on Thursday night has tightened everything up at the top. The picture might get a little clearer on Friday evening. As ever we’ll begin the preview with the TV game.

Salford Red Devils vs Castleford Tigers
The league leaders Castleford Tigers pretty much have the league leaders shield wrapped up so the next month or so will be all about maintaining their form ahead of the play-offs. Salford Red Devils were in an excellent position to make it to the postseason but a disastrous run of results have seen them playing catch up from here on in.
There is no doubt that Salford have some dangerous players but Castleford will be hurting from last week and I expect them to provide a reaction here. They are being asked to cover eight points and the way Salford have been shipping points recently I fancy the leaders to be good enough to do that especially with Michael Dobson out for the host.
St Helens vs Hull FC
In many ways the match of the night is the one between St Helens and Hull FC as the race for the top four really gets going. These two went into the weekend in fourth and third respectively and the winners of this one will give themselves every chance of progressing to the semi-finals.
Saints had a great win over Castleford last week while Hull FC were too good for Salford Red Devils so both sides go into this one in good form and with plenty of confidence. If I was going to bet on the match I would take Hull FC either on the nose or with the handicap but I think the prices are about right here.
Wigan Warriors vs Huddersfield Giants
Two sides who are unlikely to be in the play-offs meet at the DW Stadium and it will be interesting to see how the home side Wigan Warriors approach this match. Their season is now the cup final in a couple of weeks time and while they might not intentionally go into this one thinking of that it would only be natural for it to be in their heads somewhere.
With that in mind I think Huddersfield Giants have every chance in this match. They would have anyway judging by the way Wigan collapsed at Leeds last week. Huddersfield have got stronger as the season has gone along and with a 10pt start they look really good things and they are well worth a nibble on the match market too.
