The bulk of the latest round of Super League matches take place on Friday night with four battles in total across the competition. It could be a very key night at the top of the table with the top eight all in action in these games.
As ever on a Friday night we have a match on the TV and the other three which aren’t in front of the cameras. We will preview each match here beginning with the TV match.

Leeds Rhinos vs Castleford Tigers
The leaders Castleford Tigers head to their near rivals Leeds Rhinos who sit in third place going into the weekend. Both sides were involved in the Challenge Cup last week with Leeds enjoying a huge win and Castleford going down in an epic to Hull FC.
Leeds had two extra days on Castleford last week too which is a massive boost while the visitors will be without Michael Shenton and Junior Moors here so there are questions over the Tigers all of a sudden. That said they have beaten Leeds twice already this year and I’m not going to write them off just yet.
I would probably give the edge to the Rhinos here but I’ve found out a couple of times that you underestimate Castleford at your peril so I’ll sit back and enjoy what should be a cracker.
Huddersfield Giants vs Wigan Warriors
The two sides currently occupying the final two spots in the top eight clash at Huddersfield as the Giants take on the Wigan Warriors. Both enjoyed wins last week. Huddersfield saw off St Helens in the Super League while Wigan beat Warrington in the cup.
Huddersfield are on a bit of a run at the minute which was much needed from their point of view but they are without Jordan Turner and worse still Jake Mamo here. Wigan don’t look the same side this season. Injuries have had a big say in that but that is no reason to keep dropping the ball all the time. If Mamo was fit I’d chance Huddersfield here but he isn’t so I’ll sit this out.
Hull FC vs Wakefield Trinity
These two enjoyed very differing experiences last week with Hull FC knocking off the Castleford Tigers in the cup while Salford Red Devils blew Wakefield Trinity away in the same competition but I fancy Wakey could fight back here.
Trinity have had three extra days to recover and get ready from this and it would only be natural for Hull FC to be a little flat after such an important win emotionally and literally. I’m not sure the schedule has done Hull any favours here and while they have Marc Sneyd back Wakefield are getting players back too and I fancy the visitors to stay within 14pts of their potentially tired hosts.
St Helens vs Salford Red Devils
St Helens need to start winning matches if they are to get back near the top four and they could do with beating a Salford Red Devils side who are in second place in the table heading into this match. Salford are chasing the treble still having blown Wakefield away in the cup last week while Saints’ woes on the road continued at Huddersfield.
To be fair to St Helens they are a lot better on their own patch but they might need to be here because this Salford side are playing some good rugby and Greg Johnson being back balances them out nicely especially while Gareth O’Brien isn’t involved. There might not be a lot in this one which makes the eight point start the Red Devils get look appealing. That might be a couple of points too many.
