Super League XXII – Friday 7th July Matches Betting Preview

There are three more matches in the Super League on Friday evening as the developments at the top and the bottom of the table continue. As with all Friday nights we have a live match while the other two will be updated on the coverage I’m sure.

We will preview all three matches here and will begin with the TV match which is the big match of the night.

St Helens vs Hull FC

These two sides met at the Magic Weekend when St Helens came out of a slump to beat Hull FC by more than 40pts so the Black and Whites will be eager for revenge here. Both sides need to win for their respective needs. Hull to stay in the top four and St Helens to push for a spot in them.

St Helens go into this match in excellent form at home but prior to last week Hull FC had won four in a row and although they lost it was to the Castleford Tigers and there is no shame in that at the minute. Saints have some injuries to contend with. Matty Smith is out while Jon Wilkin is suspended.

Hull FC go into the match in good form and with a full squad to choose from and with the added motivation to avoid what happened in Newcastle they have plenty going for them. At odds against I think they are the value in this one.

Huddersfield Giants vs Widnes Vikings

Two sides looking to avoid being in the qualifiers when the Super League split takes place in a couple of weeks meet in one of the other games when the Huddersfield Giants host the Widnes Vikings.

Widnes are fighting hard to keep themselves in the mix for a top eight finish while Huddersfield are trying to protect their position just outside the bottom four so this is a big game for both sides. While Widnes are improving their better form tends to come at home but with Huddersfield missing one or two a 10pt handicap looks about right so I’ll sit this one out.

Warrington Wolves vs Leigh Centurions

Warrington Wolves are another side battling hard to escape the bottom four and if they are to have any chance of escaping this is a match they have to win. They face a Leigh team who know they will be in the qualifiers come the split and can play with a bit of freedom here.

Warrington reverted to type and when back to losing last week and while they should win this I can’t possibly be trusting them at odds on. That said we don’t know what sort of motivation the Centurions will have given that their fate is sealed so this is an easy one to avoid.
