The remainder of the first set of Easter fixtures in the Super League finish on Good Friday with the traditional derbies. On a big day for the sport there are two live matches among the four games on an afternoon where passions are likely to run high.
Issues at the top of the table will become much clearer on Friday afternoon with the majority of the leading sides all on show so this should be a great day of action.
Wigan vs St Helens
The match some people call the biggest derby in Super League kicks us off on Good Friday when Wigan host their arch rivals St Helens. Wigan have struggled lately with injuries hampering them while St Helens have had enough of Kieron Cunningham’s style and disposed of him and will be looking for a reaction here.
Wigan are set to get a number of players back in the form of Sean O’Loughlin, Michael McIlorum and Joe Burgess. They are big players but Luke Thompson returns for St Helens while Matty Smith goes back to the DW for the first time since he left.
Good Friday battles between these two are always explosive, hard fought and tight and I expect this to be the same but I just wonder if St Helens are going to shock Wigan. I would imagine they will be encouraged to throw the ball around and if they do that and stretch the Wigan defence they can have some joy. They might not win but this match is too tight for them to be getting a start as big as eight points.
Castleford vs Wakefield
The league leaders Castleford take on another form side in their rivals Wakefield in what should be a hugely entertaining second live game on Good Friday. Castleford have been tough to contain throughout the season but Wakefield score points too.
If I had to bet on this game I would be going on some sort of point line but at the time of writing there isn’t a market up. Wakefield are getting 20pts which looks a lot but if Castleford catch fire for half an hour they can cover that against anyone. I’ll just sit and enjoy this one.

Hull FC vs Leeds Rhinos
One of the underrated matches of the day come from the KC Stadium when Hull FC take on Leeds Rhinos. The Rhinos were given a good going over by Warrington last week which surprised many while Hull FC were taken to the cleaners by Salford last time out so both will be looking to bounce back here.
I think it will be Hull who bounce back. Leeds are missing some players with Carl Ablett potentially a big miss down the middle while Hull have Gareth Ellis, Scott Taylor and Albert Kelly back and all three are likely to play leading roles in this match. The good thing about the pasting Salford gave Hull last week is we get Hull only having to give up a couple of points here and I think they can do that and cover it.
Salford vs Leigh
The side everyone are talking about in Salford take on a Leigh team who are just starting to find the going a little tough in their first season back in Super League hence why the home side, who are now second in the table heading into the weekend, are such strong favourites.
Salford are giving up 16pts and while I think they will cover it I am slightly wary that they have a big trip to France to come on Monday so if they go ahead they might ease up a little and allow Leigh in for a back door cover so I’m going to sit this one out just in case Leigh sneak in late on.
