A busy period in the Super League over Easter begins on Wednesday night when the Huddersfield Giants host the Catalans Dragons in a match which pits two sides at the wrong end of the table against each other.
After an up and down start to the season both teams need a big Easter to propel themselves away from danger and up towards the head of the table so this is a big match for both of them.
Huddersfield Giants
The Giants go into this match off the back of six games without a win which is poor form indeed although they might well take some encouragement from their recovery from 14-0 down at St Helens last week to draw 14-14 although the fact Saints promptly sacked the coach afterwards shows what they thought of their performance.
Huddersfield are a side in transition but they need to find some offence if they are to be competitive this season. The reason for that is they haven’t scored more than 16pts in any of their last six matches and while they have picked up two draws in that time draws aren’t really going to get them anywhere.
Catalans Dragons
The inconsistencies of the Catalans Dragons has been a frustration for many connected with them for a while but they snapped a losing run last week when they went to a very tough to beat at home Leigh side and turned them over so that showed when they put it all together they can see off anyone.
We need to see that more often though. Scoring points hasn’t been a problem for them but keeping them out is becoming more of an issue as they have conceded 26pts or more in each of their last five matches. If they can tighten up their defence we could well see them go on a big run as their offense looks set in stone.
Team News
Jack Memo is set for a debut for the Huddersfield Giants while Tom Symonds also comes into the squad. They replace Dale Ferguson and Ukuma Ta’ai in the 19.
Catalans will be able to call on the services of Sam Moa after the forward escaped a suspension by entering an early guilty plea for an incident in the previous match. Thomas Bosc also returns.

Betting
It is hard to back a side who haven’t won in their last six matches at odds on and especially when they are struggling to score points. This is the Super League and you have score points to win matches as the Giants are finding out so at odds against I’m going to chance the Catalans Dragons here.
Their point scoring almost comes as automatic and while there is a slight concern over their defence it might be that Huddersfield aren’t the side to expose that. They should be even more creative with Thomas Bosc back and there is enough in their pack to muscle up and get the win here.
