Although it is the Challenge Cup final weekend, with the Covid-19 outbreaks forcing some matches to be moved, we do have a triple header of Super League action on Friday evening as teams look to get back towards parity for games played.
We have one of the three matches live on the TV which is the reverse fixture of the game that was on last week. The other two matches aren’t on TV but there are plenty of ways of keeping up to date with them throughout the evening.
Catalans Dragons vs Leeds Rhinos (18.15 – Sky Sports Arena)
The televised match on Friday evening is the first one to kick off and it comes from down in France where the leaders Catalans Dragons will be looking for another victory when they take on the Leeds Rhinos for the second time in a week.
The Dragons have been in sensational form this season but that win last week came at a cost as James Maloney is suspended. They are also without Joel Tomkins and Michael McIlorum so the squad depth of the Catalans will have to come into play here. Leeds also picked up a couple of suspensions in the fallout from that match last week which probably levels out the Catalans losses but with so many changes needed I’m happy to sit this one out I think.

Salford Red Devils vs Wakefield Trinity (19.30)
The second match to kick off on Friday evening comes from the AJ Bell Stadium where the Salford Red Devils will look to back up their emphatic win over the Castleford Tigers last week when they host another Yorkshire side in Wakefield Trinity.
Wakefield Trinity had a three game winning burst a month or so ago but their injuries are beginning to bite once again and that is a concern because they couldn’t buy a win without some key players earlier in the season. We can’t take anything from the Salford win over Castleford last week because the Tigers had rested everyone for the Challenge Cup final. Even so, winning breeds confidence and they have Tui Lolohea back for this one too to further strengthen their credentials so Salford to cover a four point handicap looks acceptable enough to me.
Huddersfield Giants vs Wigan Warriors (19.45)
The last match to kick off is another reverse fixture from last week when the Huddersfield Giants take on the Wigan Warriors looking to get some revenge for the loss they suffered at the DW Stadium despite the positive start that they made.
These are two other sides who are being decimated by injuries so predicting how this one will go isn’t easy. I guess after last week the obvious thought process is to side with the Wigan Warriors but you wouldn’t say that they were particularly convincing in that win last week so I don’t really want to plough into them at a fairly restrictive price. I don’t want to be on the Giants either so the easiest thing to do is to leave this one well alone.
