The middle day of matches in the second round of the Super League season takes place on Good Friday and while we don’t have the traditional Hull and Wigan/Saints derbies to look forward to, we do have two intriguing contests as the round dedicated to Mose Masoe continues.
We’ve already seen St Helens and Wigan Warriors pick up wins this week and the likes of the Challenge Cup holders Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves will be looking to emulate them on a competitive looking Good Friday.
Where to watch
The double header will be shown in full on the Sky Sports Main Event and the Sky Sports Arena channels. The build up to the games begins at 12.30pm with the matches kicking off at 12.45pm and 3pm.
Warrington Wolves vs Leigh Centurions (12.45)
The opening match of the two on Good Friday sees two sides who were beaten in their first game of the season last week battling it out when the Warrington Wolves take on the Leigh Centurions in a clash both teams will be eager to win.
Two losses to start the season with isn’t calamitous or anything like that but it isn’t desirable at the same time so that should automatically ramp up the competitiveness of this clash. Leigh looked an excellent side for 40 minutes last week before the Wigan Warriors eventually got the better of them. Warrington Wolves looked out of sorts but readers of our outright preview will know we’re pretty keen on the Castleford Tigers this term so that was far from a disastrous defeat. They will want to make amends here. I’d expect Warrington to win but I’d rather see another performance from both teams before I judge them with my hard earned.

Leeds Rhinos vs Castleford Tigers (15.00)
The second match of the afternoon is a Yorkshire derby which should also be full of spice as the Leeds Rhinos take on the Castleford Tigers in a clash where both sides will be looking to join St Helens and Wigan Warriors on two wins from two.
The Rhinos were up and down but ultimately got the win against the Wakefield Trinity outfit but that form wasn’t exactly franked on Thursday evening which is a bit of a concern. Castleford opened up their season with a fine win over the Warrington Wolves and there could be even more to come from them as they settle some key individuals into their ranks and begin to gel all over the pitch. Leeds generally have a decent record in this fixture but I’m more about the here and now rather than the history and right now I think Castleford are in a better place than Leeds. I really like the look of the Tigers’ attack on paper and they showed they can handle a defensive challenge last week. Leeds’ defence was breached a little too often and too easy for my liking so I’m with the Tigers here.
