The first round of matches in the Super League continues on Saturday afternoon when four more teams get their campaigns underway at Headingley Stadium including a side who will be looking to make up for their semi-final heartache of last term.
We saw St Helens and Wigan Warriors lay down a marker for the campaign ahead on Friday evening and on Saturday it will be the turn of the Challenge Cup holders Leeds Rhino and the Catalans Dragons to show their hand.
Where to watch
The matches will be shown live on the Sky Sports Arena channel with the programme beginning at 2.30pm and the games kicking off at 3pm and 5.15pm respectively.
Wakefield Trinity vs Leeds Rhinos (15.00)
The opening match of the Saturday double header is actually a home game for the Wakefield Trinity side although it will be at the actual home of their opponents Leeds Rhinos as two Yorkshire teams get their season up and running.
Leeds enjoyed a decent enough campaign last term but won’t have wanted it to end as early as they did. Their aim will be to strengthen ahead of this season and go even deeper in the competition and this will be a chance for them to show any improvement they have made. Wakefield Trinity had a season to forget last year with injuries and Covid-19 and they will hope with a better time of it with them that they too will be able to deliver a much better season this time around. There are question marks over both teams here and while I think Leeds will win the handicap is just a couple of points higher than I would like so I’m happy to use this one as a watching brief.

Catalans Dragons vs Hull KR (17.15)
The second match of the two on Saturday afternoon sees a Catalans Dragons side who will be hoping to go a couple of steps better than they went last season taking on a Hull KR team who themselves will be aiming to be much better this term.
The Dragons have lost some key players since last season with Israel Folau and David Mead having left. They are also without some big names through injury and suspension here which means that the likes of Michael McIlorum, Joel Tomkins and Samisoni Langi will be missing and we should remember that their heartbeat, Remi Casty, has retired. You get the impression that Hull KR could be getting the Dragons at the right time and a team that already had the likes of Shaun Kenny-Dowall in their ranks and who have invested to bring Ryan Hall back from the NRL will be expected to make big strides this term. This is a first chance to do exactly that and at 19/10 they are a value selection here.
