Super League XXX – Hull KR vs Leigh Leopards Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Super League XXX weekend concludes with the best saved for last as the top two heading into the latest round of matches meet at Craven Park when Hull KR go up against the Leigh Leopards in a big game this early in the competition.

Both these teams bring unbeaten Super League records into this match with them. Hull KR are perfect to date while Leigh have a draw with Hull FC slightly bringing their record down but with top spot on the line this should be a cracker.

Where to watch

The match will be shown live and in full via the Sky Sports+ channel with the short build-up beginning at 2.55pm ahead of the 3pm kick off.

Hull KR

Hull KR have been improving season on season for a while but there would have been people who would think that upward trend would have to come to an end this term because the only way they can improve on last term is to win the Grand Final. I would imagine there would have been plenty who would have expected a bit of a hangover from losing at Old Trafford in October but if anything that defeat has motivated them and the Robins have come out even stronger this time around.

Hull KR have played four and won the lot in the Super League this season and they have progressed to a Challenge Cup quarter final against their city rivals too so the red side of Hull are going along very nicely. We needed to see a standout display from the Robins and we got that in the last Super League match when they went to St Helens and came out on top. A win here would really mark them out as one of the teams to beat in the competition and perhaps the best team behind Wigan Warriors once again.

Leigh Leopards

The Leigh Leopards have enjoyed a fine start to their season too. They also had hangover potential surrounding them after they were beaten by the Wigan Warriors in the semi-final last term but they haven’t dwelt on that for too long and if anything they have come out looking just as good as they did at the back end of the previous campaign, which is no mean effort when you consider the turnover in players that they have had in that time.

Leigh have built their excellent start to the season on a very solid defence. Wigan Warriors failed to score against it in the opening round of the campaign and Catalans Dragons and their potent looking attack only got six against it. The longer the season has gone on they have started to show more in attack too and after an absolute cruise against Batley in the cup last week they look primed to really take it to the league leaders in this contest.

Team News

Willie Peters has brought three key players back into the squad for this match with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Michael McIlorum and Dean Hadley all back in. Arthur Mourgue has joined now but he wasn’t in the 21-man selection that was named.

Adrian Lam has confirmed that his side are still missing a quartet of players with Darnell McIntosh, Frankie Halton, Josh Charnley and Robbie Mulhern all still out but Gareth O’Brien has passed the concussion protocols and can feature.

Betting

We should be in for a cracking contest here between the two form teams of the season so far and this one has the feel of a playoff clash about it. There is a bit of history between this pair having met in the Challenge Cup final in 2023 which the Leigh Leopards famously won via golden point and Hull KR look to have taken that personally because since then they have won all five meetings between the two sides without conceding a single point in their last two matches.

It is that last statistic that draws me in here because this Hull KR defence hasn’t weakened over time so Leigh points are going to be hard to come by. There is little suggest that Hull KR are going to have things their own way against a Leigh defence which shut Wigan Warriors out earlier in the season so the trend of competitive, low scoring matches might well continue here. The point line for this one is 34.5 which is basically a playoff line and in a match which has that feel about it I’ll play the under, which has cashed in the last three Super League matches between the two and would also have come in at that Challenge Cup final too.
