Australia have never won the World T20 title, losing in the final to England in the Caribbean in 2010. They head to the UAE looking to lift the trophy for the first time and kick off a big period of cricket in positive fashion.

Team Guide
Australia head to the UAE never really among the best sides in this format of the game. That is a surprise when you consider the strength of their domestic competition, although a number of their best players regularly have to miss large stages of that event because of the international schedule. Despite that, they have plenty of experience of the Indian Premier League which for the last two seasons has been in this part of the world so there can be no excuses.
Australia’s strengths lie with the ball in this format. They have extreme pace in Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins and wrist spin in Adam Zampa and Mitchell Swepson. The concerns come with the bat. I never really think Australia know their best batting order in this format. A lot of their players either open or bat high for their domestic teams and it never really works. The form of David Warner is a huge concern coming in and you sense Australia need the best of Glenn Maxwell to have any chance in this.
Betting
When you consider that with the exception of the West Indies, there is barely a left hander in the top five of any of the teams that Australia are going to play in the Super 12s, I’m very surprised Adam Zampa is a 6/1 shot. There is only really Quinton de Kock of any stature in the game who Australia will come up against who is a left hander away from West Indies and he might even be out by the time Zampa comes into the attack.
Australia don’t play a single match in Sharjah in the group phase so I think we’re looking for a spinner to top their wicket charts unless someone has a sublime spell bowling to the tail at the death. The seamers just come onto the bat at the other two venues. All of Australia’s main spinners take the ball away from the right hander but Zampa is the best of the three so it stands to reason that he is a big price at 6/1.
