Saturday is the penultimate day of action at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics but there is no slacking in the events which come thick and fast as we head towards the close of the Games out in the Japanese capital.
In terms of gold medals, Saturday is the busiest day of the Olympics with a massive 34 of them to be handed out in a wide number of sports on what should be a fantastic day of Olympic action from start to finish.

There is only one bet I like across all the action on Saturday and it comes at the Velodrome where the majority of the attention will be on the Men’s Madison. Team GB are hoping to complete the double in this returning event to the Olympics after they cruised to the gold medal in the women’s race on Friday. We know Matthew Walls is in good order after he sauntered to the Omnium title but GB are up against it here.
The Danish pair of Lasse Norman Hansen and Michael Morkov will go off as the favourites but we saw on Friday that being world champions and favourites doesn’t automatically equate to gold medals and I actually think they are vulnerable favourites. That is because the 2018 and 2019 world champions Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt from Germany are in the field. They came third at the worlds last year but they are a pairing that regular ride the Madison. They have competed in a number of Six Day events with plenty of success and given that few riders have been able to be in competitive action in recent times familiarity could be crucial in this race. The German pair are one of the best Madison pairings there has been in the last five years and I’ll take them to beat the favourites Denmark.
