Turkish Masters Snooker 2022 – Last 16 Tips and Betting Preview

It is ‘Moving Day’ at the Turkish Masters on Friday when the last 16 and the quarter finals are played out on the one day in Antalya as the inaugural staging of this competition sees the field reduced from 16 to just four.

The last 16 of the event will be played across the morning and afternoon sessions while the evening session will see the quarter finals played out. Time restrictions will deny us the chance to preview the quarter finals but we have a couple of outright bets still running so hopefully they make it through to give us an interest.

Morning Session

John Higgins is the main star on show on Friday morning when he takes to the TV table to play for a place in the quarter final. He takes on his fellow Scot and friend Graeme Dott in a battle of the former world champions. Ding Junhui will be on the streamed table as he looks to find some form to take into the World Championship qualifiers with him. He goes up against the rising Chinese star Si Jiahui in a good looking contest. That leaves two more matches in this session with Thepchaiya Un-Nooh looking to close in on keeping his tour card when he meets Matthew Selt while Martin Gould faces Lu Ning in the other one.

Afternoon Session

Judd Trump is yet to win a ranking event title this season and he’ll be out to go within three wins of putting that right when he occupies the TV table in this afternoon session. He faces Zhou Yuelong who himself is hoping to push for a title. Shaun Murphy will be on the streamed table as he looks to find some form once again. He will take on Jak Jones who has taken care of Mark Allen and Hossein Vafaei this week already. Yan Bingtao will go up against Oliver Lines on one of the outside tables while the other will see Ali Carter taking on Sam Craigie.

Betting

I’ll go with the one bet over the course of the early part of the day. That sees Judd Trump in action again. I took him on with a Chinese player on Thursday to good effect and I’m going to do the same here on Friday too. Trump was 4-1 down to Liang Wenbo in the previous round and while that might mean he feels he should be out of the tournament and takes advantage of that here, it also highlights that he isn’t firing on all cylinders but we’ve seen that in the last few weeks really.

Zhou Yuelong has been knocking on the door of titles and big results for the last few years but it hasn’t quite happened for him. That certainly isn’t for a lack of talent though because he is extremely talented. He might just not be at the very top level but he’s certainly getting there. He scores very well and he has enough tactical nous to be dangerous. I’m not sure he’ll beat Trump but I don’t really see Trump dominating anyone at the minute unless the near death experience of the last round frees him up a bit. At the prices I like Zhou to force a decider at the very least.

Tips

WON – Back Z.Yuelong (+1.5 frames) to beat J.Trump for a 3/10 stake at 2.38 with BetVictor
