UEFA Nations League 2022-23 – Friday 3rd June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The new campaign of the UEFA Nations League continues on Friday evening when another bunch of sides get their competition underway on a day where there are seven matches to enjoy over the entirety of it.

We’ve seen some of the bigger hitters start their season already and on Friday we get to see the defending champions France among a bunch of teams who will be eyeing up this title and a load more who will want to improve their position in the pyramid.

League A

We have three matches from the top flight to enjoy over the course of the night on Friday. Group A1 gets going on Friday and it does so with the defending champions France hosting a dangerous Denmark side who showed all their quality at Euro 2020 last year. The other match in that group sees Croatia hosting the new boys at this level in Austria. A4 also has a match on show on Friday evening and that looks a tasty clash as Belgium play host to the Netherlands.

Leagues C + D

Two groups are in action in Leagues C and D on Friday evening. It is C3 that takes place at the third level and this feels like a group which could have a number of interesting results. The first match to kick off on Friday sees Kazakhstan taking on Azerbaijan and then the big team in the group, Slovakia, will look to showcase their credentials when they head to Belarus. There is also a couple of matches in D1 where Latvia and Andorra collide in the earlier kick off while Liechtenstein meet Moldova in the other game.

Betting

One thing the first two seasons of the UEFA Nations League has shown us is that teams in League A tend to really go for it in this competition. Whether that is because they enjoy the combat against other leading lights on the continent or the fact that there is a trophy to win at the end of it I’m not sure but it is clearly the case. In the last edition League A had group scores of 6-0, 4-0, 3-3, three lots of 4-2 and a 5-1 and I expect that trend to continue here.

The game where I like goals is the one between local rivals Belgium and Netherlands. Admittedly these two are the class acts in the group and as such the Dutch in particular might take a draw but they are going to have a hard time of keeping tabs on a relatively fresh Belgian attack. At the other end though the Netherlands might get more of their own way. Thibault Courtois has pulled out of the Belgium squad so there will be an inexperienced or inadequate keeper in goal while the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are getting no younger and there is plenty of pace in this Dutch attack. I think both teams will get some joy going forward so I like over 2.5 goals in this one.
