UEFA Nations League 2022-23 – Saturday 11th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The third matchday of the UEFA Nations League concludes on Saturday when those groups which haven’t been in action in this round of games so far play out another set of action as we head towards the end of the international break.

There are a number of appealing nations on show on what is actually a busy day of action on Saturday with the highlight being the repeat of the Euro 2020 final. There is a great card around that though so there is much to enjoy.

League A

That big match comes from Molineux where England will be back in action albeit behind closed doors when they welcome Italy to the midlands in the repeat of the Euro 2020 final which Italy infamously won on penalties. That match comes in group A3 with the other game in that section seeing Hungary taking on Germany in a fixture which also took place at the Euros last summer. A4 is also a group in action on Saturday and the Netherlands will be aiming to continue their push for a place in the semi-finals when they host a Poland side who got smashed to pieces by Belgium last time out. Belgium will look to build on that 6-1 thumping they dished out to the Poles when they make the trip to Wales, who have lost both their matches to date.

League B

Two groups are on show in the second tier level as well on Saturday with two earlier kick offs taking place in B1. The first of them to kick off sees Ukraine looking to build on their promising start when they host Armenia. The other match kicks off slightly later and will see the Republic of Ireland looking to end their dismal form when they welcome Scotland to Dublin. B3 is the other group on show where Finland and Bosnia-Herzegovina lead the way. Both face away trips on Saturday. Bosnia-Herzegovina head to Montenegro while Finland go to Romania.

Leagues C + D

There is just the one group on show in the lower two leagues on Saturday and it is C1 where Turkey have the chance to continue to prove what we all knew anyway in that they are too good for this level. After starting the group with two emphatic victories they go away to their closest challengers Luxembourg in the pick of the two matches. The other match in the group is the early kick off where the Faroe Islands take on Lithuania.

Betting

Luxembourg have made a good start to their campaign with successive wins over Lithuania and the Faroe Islands but I expect that to come to a close when they play host to Turkey on Saturday evening. While Luxembourg have started the competition well, it is nothing compared to how Turkey have begun. They have opened up with 4-0 and 6-0 wins against the same two opponents and look a league above this level, which we knew they were anyway.

We are at the stage of the week where starting XIs are likely to be rotated a little but that isn’t exactly going to help Luxembourg because although they are building a deeper pool of players from the better leagues around Europe, it is nothing compared to the depth that Turkey have at their disposal. During their 6-0 win over Lithuania in midweek they were able to dispense of the services of Hakan Calhanoglu and Cenzig Under at half time and never even needed to call upon Caglar Soyuncu. They should be available for this game and with a fair support cast around them they can get the better of a Luxembourg team who are improving but aren’t quite at the level of Turkey just yet.
