West Indies vs Pakistan – T20 Series Betting Preview

The West Indies and Pakistan begin one of the longest T20 international series I can remember on Sunday when they get set to take part in four matches in the shortest format of the game ahead of an ODI series next month.

Schedule

1st T20: Mar 26 at Barbados

2nd T20: Mar 30 at Trinidad

3rd T20: Apr 1 at Trinidad

4th T20: Apr 2 at Trinidad

West Indies

This is the best format of the game for the West Indies at the moment. They are famously the world champions in this format and the weaknesses they have in the other formats of the game don’t have as long to be exposed in this one hence why they are so tough to beat. They are under new captaincy now though which will be interesting.

Since winning the World T20 last year the West Indies have seen off India in a home series in America and then suffered a 3-0 whitewash in the Emirates against Pakistan so they will be eager to make up for that over the course of these four matches. We will find out about their strength in depth in this series.

Pakistan

You never truly know what you are going to get with Pakistan although they have looked much better under the leadership of Sarfraz Ahmed and he skippers them in this series. Pakistan have decided to blood some younger players for this series which is understandable looking forward from here.

Pakistan have only played four matches since the World T20 last year but encouragingly for them they have won them all which will be a big thing for their confidence heading into this series although it does need to be reinforced that they are a slightly more inexperienced group for these matches.

Betting

I’m not sure which way I see this series going so I’m going to leave the outright outcome alone and focus on one of the player markets which comes in the form of the top Pakistan series bowler.

There is no Mohammad Amir for this series so I can see why Wahab Riaz is a favourite in this market. Sohail Tanvir could be one who is a big price but I like Imad Wasim who impressed me in England last year and who I fancy should be able to go well on the slower wickets in the Caribbean.

Wasim took 9/53 in the three matches against the West Indies in the UAE at the back end of last year so he has decent form against them and he comes in here off the back of the Pakistan Super League so he will know what he’s doing. I think he’s good value at 11/2.
