World Championship Snooker 2023 – Day 12 Tips and Betting Preview

The quarter finals of the World Championship conclude on Wednesday on what is the final day of the tournament where there will be two tables on show inside the Crucible Theatre. At the end of it we will know the semi-final line-up.

The four matches are all underway with two of the quarter finals having one session to conclude them on Wednesday and the other two having two sessions before they come to a conclusion on what should be a dramatic day of snooker.

Day 11 Recap

Three of the four matches are deadlocked heading into the final day of these quarter finals on Wednesday. The one which isn’t probably should have been but as it is Ronnie O’Sullivan leads Luca Brecel 10-6 in a match which has been a lot closer than that score suggests but Brecel just hasn’t been able to get back on terms. The other match which had two sessions on Tuesday was the one between Mark Allen and Jak Jones and having been locked at 4-4 after one session they will begin the final session tied at 8-8. The other two matches will start off at 4-4 when Anthony McGill resumes on that score against Si Jiahui and the blockbuster match between Mark Selby and John Higgins will be likewise.

In Play Betting

I don’t think there is much in the way of betting mileage left in the match between Ronnie O’Sullivan and Luca Brecel. It is hard to see Brecel winning 7-2 from here which is what he would need to do in order to go through. Hopefully he can score the century we need for him to bring the bet we had on that match on Tuesday in. We are already on Anthony McGill to pull away from Si Jiahui while in the other match between Mark Selby and John Higgins, they have the nightmare quarter final where they play in consecutive sessions in the afternoon and evening and given the tight nature of this match you sense that could be significant.

The other match does carry a betting opportunity though where the 5/6 on there being more than 23.5 frames in the clash between Mark Allen and Jak Jones looks a good bet. These two have been tied at 4-4 and now 8-8 and there doesn’t appear to be anything splitting them. We might look back on the match and realise that Jones missed his chance when Allen was all over the place in the second session but the pressure is only going to increase so there is no guarantee Allen will come good in the final session, especially when all the talk will be that he hasn’t made the one-table setup in ages. Jones should be in front in this match but he probably has nothing to lose now and I haven’t seen anything to suggest that this one will not go 13-11 or 13-12 either way.
