World Cup Qualifiers – Saturday 2nd September European Matches Betting Preview

We reach the halfway mark of the latest set of World Cup Qualifiers on Saturday evening. Those who are yet to play this week get the chance to play the first of their two matches in this international window which means we get to see some of Europe’s finest on show.

Spain, Italy, Wales and Croatia are all among the sides playing on what should be an entertaining night of football in the majority of places.

Group D

There are a couple of early kick offs in this group as Georgia host Republic of Ireland in one of them with leaders Serbia playing host to Moldova in the other one. It could be that the biggest match of the evening in the group is the last one to kick off as Wales in third take on Austria in fourth.

Group G

This is where the heavyweight contest of the night takes place when Spain host Italy in a battle of two European powerhouses. Before that Albania host Liechtenstein in an early kick off. Israel face Macedonia in the other match of the night but it is all about the truly huge one as far as this section is concerned.

Group I

We have an early kick off in this group too. It comes from Scandinavia where Finland take on their neighbours Iceland. Later on in the evening the leaders Croatia host Kosovo looking to repeat the 6-0 win they produced in the reverse meeting between the two. Ukraine host Turkey in an interesting match in the other game.

Betting

I like two in this session of action. Both come in Group I. Iceland have been in good touch for a while now and I am surprised we can still get even money on them to win in Finland. Iceland’s only defeat in the group so far came against Croatia and there is nothing wrong with that. Finland’s only point came against Kosovo which isn’t the best form at all. All things being equal Iceland are good things at even money here.

Croatia have already beaten Kosovo 6-0 in this group and while the minnows have improved as they have gone along I’m still expecting a big win for the Croats here. We can still get a decent enough price on Croatia -3.5 goals which I am surprised about. One of the themes of the week so far has been the minnows offering little in the way of resolve against the established nations. I would be surprised if that doesn’t continue here.
