There are three matches in Sky Bet League 2 in a mini fixture list on Tuesday evening with the promotion race and the battle to avoid the drop in the spotlight across the games. We are at that time of the season where we play catch up to matches that were cancelled due to weather or cup games so points are important from these ones.
Crewe Alexandra vs Exeter City
Exeter City will look to get their promotion challenge back on track when they make the lengthy trip to Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night. Crewe eased themselves further away from danger on Saturday when they saw off Colchester and a win here would make them much better placed.
Exeter are without a win in three matches but when you look at it they were all against sides in the top four in the table so there might be no harm in those results but as a general rule they haven’t been fantastic on the road all season. Crewe don’t convince me despite Saturday’s win so I’ll leave this one alone.
Cambridge United vs Notts County
This is another match where the away side will go looking for points to revive their flagging automatic promotion hopes when Notts County travel to Cambridge United for what is a big game for the Magpies.
Cambridge is never an easy place to go and indeed they have only lost three times on their own patch all season which is not a bad effort for a side who have never looked in the promotion or even play-off mix. They have won both their matches since Shaun Derry was given the boot and with new owners things are looking good for them.
Notts County have started to stumble in recent times. They have only won two of their last seven and away from home their form is even worse. They have won just one of their last 11 away from Meadow Lane and that was only at struggling Morecambe. They clearly don’t go well on their travels and with one or two injuries pinching them I have to take them on. Cambridge look worth a go on the Asian markets.

Barnet vs Carlisle United
Bottom of the pile Barnet can lift themselves off the bottom of the table if they avoid defeat to Carlisle United on Tuesday evening but being six points away from safety this is a match they will want to win rather than just avoid defeat.
Barnet are starting to build something in terms of form at home with three matches without defeat at The Hive. They have come against lofty opposition too in Accrington, Notts County and Lincoln. With 12 wins and 12 defeats on the season it is clear that Carlisle have struggled for consistency in the campaign. I don’t really like either if I’m honest so I’ll leave this one alone too.
