2017 Aegon Championships Tennis – Semi-Finals Betting Preview

It is semi-final day at the Aegon Championships on Saturday as we get closer to determining who will win this fine tournament and give their Wimbledon preparations a perfect boost. All four men will believe they can go all the way from here on in so we should get two great matches.

Quarter Final Recap

It was a profitable day for us in London on Friday as Feliciano Lopez saw off Tomas Berdych deep into a third set. Sadly Sam Querrey had a shocker of a game in the first set of his match against Gilles Muller which means the games line failed to cover.

Our outright bet Marin Cilic came through in straight sets while Grigor Dimitrov was taken the distance against Daniil Medvedev before coming through. They face Muller and Lopez respectively.

Gilles Muller vs Marin Cilic

The opening semi-final is the battle of the big servers as Gilles Muller takes on Marin Cilic. This will be the second time the two have met after Cilic won a pair of tiebreakers in Rotterdam last year.

Both men have been serving brilliantly this week so I wouldn’t be surprised to tiebreaks in this match either. There was that crazy stat heading into the quarter final that Cilic had only lost one point on his first serve in two matches and he didn’t lose many more in the last eight so Muller is going to have to do something special to win this or hope Cilic has a bad serving day.

I’m already on Cilic outright so I don’t need to get involved in this one. Having backed him to win the tournament each way we can get the place part secured here so I’ll sit this one out.

Grigor Dimitrov vs Feliciano Lopez

The second semi-final is a repeat of the 2014 final which Grigor Dimitrov won over Feliciano Lopez in a match which went three sets all of which were tiebreaks. Both men have played some nice stuff this week so this should be another cracker.

Both players went the distance in the quarter final so fatigue could come into play here although they had both cruised through prior to that so hopefully it won’t play a massive part. They played three tiebreaks here three years ago and their latest meeting last year ended in a deciding set tiebreak so there is enough to believe we’ll be seeing more than 24.5 games here.
