The last day of the ATP tennis season has arrived with the singles final and the doubles final of the ATP World Tour Finals to be played out inside the o2 Arena in London on what should be a wonderful conclusion to the year.
We definitely have the two best singles players on the week so far and we have a tasty doubles final preceding that so there is much to enjoy and look forward to over the course of the day.

Lukasz Kubot & Marcelo Melo vs Henri Kontinen & John Peers
The doubles final will see the number one team in the world in Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo taking on the defending champions of Henri Kontinen and John Peers. Both sides had their ups and downs in the group stages but both looked good when it mattered in the semis to set up a fascinating finale.
Kontinen and Peers have a 3-1 head to head lead with their latest two wins coming in the finals in Washington and Shanghai but perhaps Melo and Kubot had the biggest win when they won the Wimbledon semi-final in a five set epic.
I’m already on the world number one side having backed them outright at 5/1 before the tournament started and I’m happy with that. They have looked the best side in the competition to me and hopefully that translates into them winning this final.

David Goffin vs Grigor Dimitrov
The singles final is a repeat of a group match from earlier in the week when David Goffin takes on Grigor Dimitrov for the biggest title in either man’s career. Dimitrov wiped Goffin out in the group stage on Wednesday.
That took his head to head record over the Belgian to 4-1 in total but we have to respect the fact that Goffin saw off Roger Federer in fine style in the semi-final. The intriguing thing will be whether he suffers an emotional comedown like he did when he beat Rafael Nadal at the beginning of the week. If he doesn’t he is entitled to have every chance here.
Grigor Dimitrov has been the best player of the week so far and while that doesn’t count for anything now he will be full of confidence after the way he destroyed Goffin in their previous meeting. As with the doubles final I’m already on a finalist outright having backed Dimitrov at 10/1 before the tournament began. That is enough to keep me interested in what looks an interesting final.
