It is the final matches in Group A of the Gold Cup in the early hours of Saturday morning UK time when the tournament heads back to Texas. With a match to go it looks like three teams will escape this group but the order of them is yet to be ascertained.
Canada, Costa Rica and Honduras are all likely to qualify and these two matches will determine who wins the group and who follow them home.

Costa Rica vs French Guiana
We know Costa Rica are definitely through and we know that French Guiana will be playing their final match in the competition here but we don’t yet know whether Costa Rica will win the group.
If they are to do that then they need to better Canada’s result or beat their win by one more goal to go through as the group winners. French Guiana picked up a draw with Honduras in their previous match which has since been downgraded to a 3-0 defeat for fielding an ineligible player but they had their keeper to thank for a string of saves in that match.
I fully expect Costa Rica to find the net in this game and that could well be enough for them to win the game to nil given their strong defensive record.
Canada vs Honduras
The second match of the night is likely to determine who goes through for certain and who will have to wait a couple of nights to find out for sure that they have qualified. Canada head into the match needing just a draw to be certain of progressing.
Canada have shown good signs in this tournament and if they can find the net you would think they will get a result because Honduras don’t score many but it will be interesting to see how the Canadians approach this given that they only need a draw. I’m on Canada outright so I don’t need to get involved in the match which is good with the guess work that is involved in it.
