The main number of matches in the second week of the NFL season take place on Sunday with plenty of games in the 6pm and 9.25pm kick off times in the UK. After an exciting opening week of the campaign we have 13 matches in the usual Sunday early slots to look forward to.
1pm kick offs (6pm UK time)
There is another AFC North clash first up when the Cleveland Browns take on the Baltimore Ravens away from home. Carolina Panthers host the Buffalo Bills while two sides who lost their first games meet when the Indianapolis Colts welcome the Arizona Cardinals to town.
Two AFC South sides collide in Jacksonville when the Jaguars take on the Tennessee Titans with Kansas City Chiefs playing Philadelphia Eagles. Two sides who surprisingly lost in week one meet in the TV game in the UK when the New Orleans Saints take on the New England Patriots. Minnesota Vikings, who beat the Saints on the Monday Night Football, head to Pittsburgh while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers get their season underway by hosting the Chicago Bears.
4pm kick offs (9pm UK time)
The later games see the Miami Dolphins start their campaign at the Los Angeles Chargers while the Oakland Raiders’ first home match of the season is against the New York Jets. The pick of the early matches sees the Dallas Cowboys heading to Colorado to take on the Denver Broncos.
In the other two matches the other Los Angeles side – the Rams host the Washington Redskins and then there is a tasty looking NFC West tussle between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers in one neither can afford to lose after both lost last week.

Betting
There are three bets for me in these matches. I begin in the AFC North where I think more than a touchdown is a bit too much for the Cleveland Browns to be carrying. They made big strides in pre-season and although they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week they were by no means disgraced in defeat. Baltimore Ravens picked up a good win last week but we saw on Thursday night that they didn’t beat anything. I don’t expect Cleveland to win this match although it could happen but I do think they’ll stay within a score of the Ravens.
It was impossible not to be impressed with the Kansas City Chiefs in the opening week. They took the New England Patriots to the cleaners despite having some injuries during the match. Of course they have lost the services of Eric Berry but I think this week at least their defence will rally in a ‘let’s do it for him’ sort of way. Philadelphia can be hit or miss but with the offense doing good things for the Chiefs I think they can cover a five point spread.
Moving into the later matches and I think the Dallas Cowboys will be too good for the Denver Broncos. I’m not sure what to make of the Broncos in many ways. I thought the Los Angeles Chargers made them look better than they are at times and I don’t think the Cowboys will. We saw both sides of the ball working well for the Cowboys in their opener and while the Broncos defence is another tough unit to go up against you would think Ezekiel Elliott will soon tire them out. The Cowboys are only having to give up 2.5pts on the spread which even in a potentially low scoring game should not be beyond them.
