2017 Players Championship Snooker – Day 2 Betting Preview

There are four matches on the second day of action at the Players Championship in Llandudno. They will be played across two sessions of play at Venue Cymru as the tournament really gets going.

The opening night saw Ronnie O’Sullivan cruising into the next round while another former world champion was catapulted from the competition as Stuart Bingham was beaten. Two more world champions join the cast list on Tuesday.

Afternoon Session

The main table sees the current world champion in action as Mark Selby takes on one of the form horses in Ryan Day while on the outside table there is a clash between two tournament winners this season in the Scottish Open champion Marco Fu and the Shootout and Indian Open winner Anthony McGill.

Evening Session

Big names come thick and fast in this tournament and none more so than in this evening session as the European Masters winner Judd Trump takes on the champion of Northern Ireland, Mark King. That is the main table action while on the other table World Grand Prix winner Barry Hawkins battles with Riga Masters champion Neil Robertson.

Betting

I’m going with two bets on Tuesday, one in each session. Both bets take place on the second table so we will be looking at the streaming to check how they fare.

In the afternoon I’ve a feeling that Anthony McGill is just lighting up. The last two seasons have seen McGill come to life at this time of year and the way he was hitting the ball at the Shootout the same thing could be about to happen here too. Marco Fu was inspired just before Christmas but tip problems and some inconsistency have hampered him recently. I fancy McGill is in slightly the better place right now and he’s definitely a big price to come through this one.

The tables look to be playing really nicely. We saw four centuries across them on the opening night and I’m expecting even more on the second night of action. Barry Hawkins takes on Neil Robertson with both men capable of scoring heavily at any opportunity. When the two met in the World Championship a couple of years ago they made eight centuries and I expect a couple here. Both men look to be in good form and generally when they play well they score strongly as I believe they will here.
