2017 World Cup of Darts – Quarter Finals Betting Preview

There have been many stories in the PDC World Cup of Darts this year and it will be interesting to see if any of them develop further as the tournament comes to a close in Frankfurt on Sunday.

The likes of Singapore, Russia and Germany have all surprised bigger and more established nations to make it into the quarter finals which take place on Sunday afternoon ahead of the semi-finals and final in the evening. Due to time restrictions we can’t preview the semis and final but we’ll go through the quarter finals here.

Singapore vs Belgium

One of the surprise packages Singapore meet former finalists Belgium in the opening quarter final. The concern for Belgium heading into the tournament was the form of Ronny Huybrechts but he has played fine in this tournament and you sense it will be the end of the road for them here.

Credit especially to Paul Lim for Singapore making it this far and if they can somehow get it to the doubles you never know but Kim and Ronny both get going for this tournament and I expect Belgium to prevail albeit at no price.

Russia vs Wales

In many ways Russia have been the biggest surprise in this tournament in that they’ve beaten a couple of genuine threats in Hong Kong and Australia. What makes them dangerous is that both players are playing some good darts and if either Welshman isn’t on it then Russia won’t need a second invitation to win this.

I would imagine we’ll see the best of Wales here though. Gerwyn Price has had long enough to get used to the tournament while Mark Webster, clearly not at his best, battles all the way. This could be close, maybe 2-1 either way, which could make Russia value but I fancy Wales will find a way to win.

England vs Austria

If there is an upset in these quarter finals this is where I can see it being. I say that because Austria have played some good stuff in this tournament so far and have cruised through without looking in any trouble whatsoever.

England have done likewise but the form of Adrian Lewis in the doubles on Friday was of a real concern while Dave Chisnall can miss doubles at any moment which is less than ideal in a best-of-seven leg match. Mensur Suljovic looks on it and if he can continue to lead by example and Rowby-John Rodriguez catches fire England are anything but certainties here. A small bet on Austria is advised.

Germany vs Netherlands

Germany have been a breath of fresh air in this tournament but their run is going to end here and you would think it will end before it gets to the doubles. Raymond Barneveld was given a wake up call by Larry Butler on Saturday night and neither German is beating MVG.

Germany will give it all they’ve got here but this will be one step too far for them but again the Dutch are no price so it is just a small interest bet on the Austrians for me in these quarter finals.
