It is the final day of qualifying for the World Open on Wednesday when those who are yet to have the chance to book their spot on the plane to China next month get the opportunity to do so by winning a best of nine frame match inside the Guild Hall in Preston.
Many big names have had their chance to make it to China with the majority having done so and on Wednesday we will see if Barry Hawkins and John Higgins can also make it through to the main draw.
Morning Session
Michael Holt and David Gilbert are the big names on the streamed tables on Wednesday morning. Holt takes on Billy Joe Castle while Gilbert faces Rhys Clark. Three more matches take place elsewhere with Sam Baird facing Chen Zhe, Mark Joyce playing Aditya Mehta and Rory McLeod going up against Eden Sharav.
Afternoon Session
Barry Hawkins is very much the big name on show in this session. He plays the Welsh player David John while Anthony Hamilton will compete on the other one when he meets Allan Taylor. On the outside table Jack Lisowski plays Xu Si, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh goes up against Fang Xiongman and Hossein Vafaei plays Ashley Hugill.
Evening Session
Ben Woollaston and John Higgins get their chance in the final session of qualifying. Woollaston has to take on Peter Lines while Higgins faces Joe Swail. Matthew Selt plays Mitchell Mann on one of the outside tables while Liam Highfield plays Alexander Ursenbacher in the other match.

Betting
I’ve had a good week of snooker qualifying and I’m not going to throw it all away by pushing the boat out. Instead I am going with just the one bet which involves Alexander Ursenbacher.
The young Swiss star is beginning to make a name for himself and I believe he has an excellent chance to enhance that reputation when he takes on Liam Highfield. I like Highfield as a player but his form hasn’t been up to much yet this season unlike Ursenbacher who has beaten Jamie Jones and Li Hang already in the last week. At 17/10 the Swiss man is good value in this one.
Tips
