There is one match in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon which sees Everton taking on Crystal Palace at Goodison Park and with most of the division having played on Saturday these two have the spotlight all to themselves.
Both teams will head into the match in the bottom half of the table after Saturday’s results so they will both be desperate for the victory in this one which should ensure we get a competitive enough offering.
Everton
Although they are in the bottom half of the table, Everton put together their best performance of the season last time out so the international break in one way might have come at a bad time for them. On the flip side of that it has allowed them to get a few of their injured players back so maybe they welcomed it coming when it did after all.
Everton looked to be a really classy attacking unit at Leicester two weeks ago and to be fair they have a front four that has danger written all over them. They have some good players backing them up as well so if they can defend strongly in this match then they have every right to be dangerous for the next few matches not just this one.
Crystal Palace
It has been a disappointing and tough start to the season for Crystal Palace. I think they were the first to admit they were beaten by the better side in Wolves last time out and Roy Hodgson will be looking for a reaction from his players in this one. It could be that the international break was perfectly timed for them given that.
One good thing for Hodgson is he won’t need to look too deep to work out where it is going wrong for Crystal Palace. They have only found the net five times in their eight matches this season and only Huddersfield Town have scored fewer than that. If they are going to do anything with their campaign they simply have to find some potent goal threats.
Team News
Everton could finally give long awaited debuts to Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes in this match as both recovered from injuries during the international window. Bernard is expected to keep his place after impressing against Leicester.
Crystal Palace have a major doubt over Wilfried Zaha after he picked up an injury on international duty. He is going to be assessed ahead of the match but could play anyway as he is so important to Crystal Palace. Christian Benteke remains out.

Betting
I have to be with Everton here. The flair and the creativity, not to mention the skill of their front four are going to do some real damage over the remainder of this season if they all stay fit and that could begin here. I fancy they will open up this Palace defence and if they do they should get the job done given Palace’s struggles in front of goal.
We all know the record Crystal Palace have if Wilfried Zaha is not in their side so his fitness doubt is more than just a normal concern. If he doesn’t feature it will deflate the visitors but even if he does he might not get a whole lot of joy out of this Everton defence. I’m happy to be on the home side here.
