There is almost a full round of matches in Sky Bet League One on Saturday afternoon with just two sides not in action as they feature on Sunday. Title favourites Sunderland are one of those not playing so the rest of the league has the chance to put some pressure on them here.
After a midweek round in the Carabao Cup it will be interesting to see who has what left in the tank as we head into a period of three matches in eight days which is likely to shake the table up a bit over the piece.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
Accrington Stanley v Charlton Athletic
Barnsley v AFC Wimbledon
Burton Albion v Doncaster Rovers
Coventry City v Plymouth Argyle
Fleetwood Town v Rochdale
Peterborough United v Luton Town
Portsmouth v Oxford United
Shrewsbury Town v Blackpool
Southend United v Bradford City
Walsall v Gillingham
Wycombe Wanderers v Bristol Rovers
Big Matches
Given that Sunderland are not playing it is Barnsley who are the big side in action on Saturday. They host AFC Wimbledon at Oakwell while two sides expected to be in the promotion shake up do battle at London Road when Peterborough United host Luton Town. Doncaster Rovers sit in second place in the table and they make the trip to Burton Albion who are looking for their first point.
Best of the Rest
Portsmouth have made a good start to the season and they will looking to make it three wins from three when Oxford United are the visitors to Fratton Park while the other side with a 100% record so far, Gillingham, head to Walsall who have also begun the campaign positively. At the other end of the table two sides who have not got off to the best of starts meet at Adams Park when Wycombe Wanderers host Bristol Rovers.

Betting
It is a big week of action in League One with three sets of matches so I’m not going to go too many in this round of matches. There are a couple of home sides that I may have chanced if they were not as short as what they are but given the prices I’ll head for a goals bet that I like.
That comes in the match between my team Luton and Peterborough United which I expect to be high scoring. Peterborough are an attacking side who look to get on the front foot and score goals while Luton are exactly the same in mindset. Just because they have gone up a division won’t stop Luton taking the game too their opponents. They created a hatful of chances at Portsmouth two weeks ago and I expect them to create plenty here too. Peterborough will have their moments in the match so over 2.5 goals looks the way to play this one.
